My teaching is based on developing a technique, which requires an incessant attention to the piano sound from a student and involves his constant critical listening while playing on the piano. Colorful imagination related to experiences of personal life, persistent listening attention and critical thinking would stimulate the student to ask himself a number of possible questions, which would logically follow one after another: “What do I want to tell while I play a certain piece of a music?”; “What do I want to hear while I play a certain fragment of a musical piece, or a particular measure, or even a particular note?”

In my opinion piano technique is a combination of a critical listening and physical motion, where the listening component is fundamental. Therefore, technical skills may be gained through a variety of activities both at the piano and away.  While working on the piano, a student must actively use his listening attention and critical thinking. The other possible activities are away from a piano: to listen to fine recordings of outstanding musicians as well as to read a special professional literature, and then discuss them with the teacher and colleagues.
